Job Summary

The Pre-Sales Solution Architect’s main responsibility is to be the technical/functional lead on sales opportunities for our Federal Business. This is a business development position to provide exceptional technical leadership during the sales process with a strong understanding of our products and services and the ability to write clear technical solutions consistent with federal government procurement guidelines. This role must exhibit high energy, convincing presentation skills, and thorough technical writing skills. It is expected that this individual will understand the full federal government procurement lifecycle, from pre-solicitation through to contract award. They will be expected to research and understand multiple federal agency’s unique solutions, technical pain points, and multi-cloud environments. This role is a vendor agnostic, full solution stack, enterprise level technical solution architect position. To be successful in this role you must be a self-starter, consistently learning and keeping up to date with the latest technology and have the ability to learn any federal agency’s uniquely deployed architecture and solutions.

Essential Functions

  • Using publicly available data, research multiple federal agencies to determine and document their unique technical architecture, deployed solutions, and understand their current pain points, and design/document how our Federal Business can meet their needs. 
  • Act as the technical lead on federal business development opportunities by thoroughly reading and understanding RFPs/RFIs to design solutions to meet the specific requirements the federal agency is requesting. 
  • Prepare written responses answering how our solutions directly meet the federal requirements for RFPs, RFIs, proof of concepts, and Statements of Work. 
  • Assist in the preparation of a Work Break Structure (WBS) for delivering the defined scope with input into estimated hours per task to assist with pricing. 
  • Act as a technical resource and liaison between the business development team, the proposal and capture team, and the Client. 
  • Lead the internal transition from pre-sales to the deliver team ensuring the proposed solution and scope are understood by the implementation team. 
  • Keep abreast of all new products, market trends, future directions, and competitors. 
  • Consistently learn and certify on the related applications within the scope of the role. 
  • Attend federal government industry days, networking events, and conferences as requested. 
  • Lead pre-sales discovery sessions and document Client technical and functional requirements. 
  • Conduct compelling software demonstrations, presenting and articulating the features and benefits of our solutions. 
  • Research, learn, and present third-party solutions as required to meet Client requirements.  
  • Create and deliver PowerPoint presentations to support sales and pre-sales activities to prospects and clients.  
  • Respond to Client inquiries on product offerings and technical specifications. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience. 
  • A total of 15+ year in the Information Technology (IT) industry 
  • 8+ years of either a federal government pre-sales enterprise level solution architect position or 4+ years of federal government pre-sales enterprise level solution architect position and 4+ years of delivery experience in an enterprise level solution architect position. 
  • Working knowledge and expertise within any of the following related products is a plus: 
    • Microsoft Dynamics 365 
    • Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Pages, Power Automate) 
    • Power BI 
    • Microsoft 365 
    • Microsoft Azure 
    • ServiceNow 
  • Understanding and experience of federal government business development processes. Experience with the Shipley proposal response process is a plus. 
  • Proven ability to gather Client requirements, design, and document an innovative solution in a clear, concise manner. 
  • Proven capability to build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility and confidence. 
  • Excellent presentation, communication, leadership, and Client development skills to effectively present information to C-level management, public groups, board of directors, or other defined groups of individuals. Public speaking experience preferred. 
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license, reliable personal transportation, and auto insurance. 
  • Applicants are subject to government security investigations and must meet eligibility requirements related to the clearance process. 

Working Environment

The majority of work for this role is performed in a home office and interacts with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. Telecommuters are expected to have sufficient home office space that appears neat, organized, and professional when on video meetings. Travel is required and varies around 25%.
