Job Opening

Job Summary

The Software Development Architect will design and build modern, scalable systems that power Doyon Technology Group’s (DTG) next generation of products and client solutions. As a core member of the Organic Growth Team, this role will set architectural direction, provide hands-on development leadership, and leverage the Microsoft ecosystem—.NET, C#, Azure, and related hosted services—to deliver resilient, secure, and cost-effective platforms. In this small, start-up style team, the Architect will combine high-level architectural vision with hands-on coding and delivery responsibilities, balance speed and rigor, enable rapid prototyping and iteration while laying the technical foundation for products that can eventually scale within Business Units. Additionally, the Architect will apply AI tools and techniques as part of daily workflows to enhance efficiency, improve prototyping accuracy, and drive innovation.

Essential Functions

Prototyping & Delivery

  • Build proofs-of-concept and MVPs that enable quick client validation before scaling.
  • Partner closely with the Organic Growth team to iterate on requirements and test scenarios.
  • Balance architectural rigor with speed to support rapid product experimentation.
  • Perform full stack development for MVPs, including front end, middle tier, and back end.
  • Apply AI tools and techniques to enhance prototyping efficiency and increase the accuracy of MVPs.
  • Develop technical documentation, reference implementations, and transition materials to support eventual handoff of validated products to Business Units.

Architecture & System Design

  • Define target architectures and reference designs (microservices, event-driven, modular monoliths, APIs) aligned to business outcomes and product experiments.
  • Translate requirements into architecture diagrams, data flows, and non-functional specifications (availability, scalability, latency, cost, compliance).
  • Drive build-versus-buy decisions, set platform standards, and maintain an architectural backlog and roadmap.

Cloud & Platform Engineering (Microsoft Stack)

  • Design and implement solutions using Azure PaaS/IaaS services (App Service, AKS, Functions, API Management, Service Bus, Event Hubs) with .NET/C# and modern frontend frameworks.
  • Build multi-tenant, secure, and observable services using Azure AD/Entra ID, Key Vault, Managed Identity, and role-based access controls.
  • Select and integrate data stores (SQL Server, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Blob Storage) and define schemas, data contracts, and migration strategies.
  • Establish CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions; champion Infrastructure as Code (Bicep/Terraform) and automated testing.

Quality, Reliability & Cost Optimization

  • Define service-level objectives (SLOs/SLIs) and implement observability through logs, metrics, and tracing with Azure Monitor/App Insights.
  • Embed security by design, conduct threat modeling, and ensure compliance with client and regulatory requirements.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize performance, scalability, and cloud costs to ensure financial sustainability of solutions.
  • Leverage AI-driven insights to optimize performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Lead performance tuning, load testing, and capacity planning for early-stage products.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, and GTM teams to ensure technical solutions align with market strategy.
  • Communicate architectural trade-offs and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Engage with external partners and clients, as needed, to validate technical approaches and represent DTG’s capabilities within the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Other duties and special assignments as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years building enterprise or SaaS solutions with the Microsoft stack; 3+ years in an architect or principal engineer role.
  • Deep experience with .NET/C#, Azure services, API design, and distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, identity, networking, and data architecture.
  • Hands-on ability to design and deliver prototypes, MVPs, and production-ready solutions in a small-team environment.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Bicep/Terraform/ARM), automated testing, and observability.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Applicants are subject to government security investigations and must meet eligibility requirements related to the clearance process.

Preferred

  • Experience designing, developing, and integrating solutions with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
  • Experience in B2B technology, public sector, or regulated industries.
  • Experience transitioning MVPs into production-scale systems
  • Familiarity with domain-driven design, event sourcing, and asynchronous messaging.
  • Hands-on experience with containers/Kubernetes (AKS), modern frontend frameworks, and data streaming/analytics.
  • Exposure to cost management/FinOps practices and performance tuning at scale.
